Design Notes

The CYC1 promoter was chosen for its moderate strength, providing a balance between sufficient gene expression and minimizing metabolic burden on the host cells.


Source

The Yeast CYC1 Promoter originates from the genomic sequence of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. It is derived from the promoter region of the CYC1 gene, which encodes cytochrome c isoform 1, a component of the mitochondrial electron transport chain.
